Hagley Learning Centre (HLC) helps you to develop your literacy, numeracy, communication and computer skills.



Our experienced tutors will develop a personalised programme for you based on your goals and future plans. As well as increasing reading, writing and maths knowledge, you will gain confidence and self-esteem and learn skills for work, study and day-to-day life.

HLC courses are FREE for adult learners who are NZ citizens or NZ residents.

Learn EVERYDAY English

FREE English classes from beginner to intermediate level. For NZ residents and NZ citizens.

 

Join one of our graded English language classes to build your vocabulary, improve your written and

spoken English.

Youth Catch up class

For 16–20-year-olds who need that little bit of help to develop good learning strategies, and to work

towards gaining NCEA Level 1.

Ideal for those with neuro-diverse learning challenges.

Learn Life Skills in First Steps

The First Steps class is for those with intellectual impairments or who live with neuro diverse

learning challenges.

Using everyday tasks such as cooking, travel, sports and hobbies, class members develop and extend their literacy and numeracy skills.

Learn in the community

Small classes and friendly tutors.

Learners in the community classes work on improving their reading, writing, and math skills,

along with digital literacy. 

There is the option to achieve NZQA unit standards, working towards NCEA L1.

Learn for the workplace

These 1:1 sessions are for those who are already

in employment.

Sessions are built around each learner's goals and may focus on skills for work - digital literacy, improved English, or improving maths, reading and writing skills.
